ModCloth’s New Site Navigation Improves Product Discoverablity, Site Performance

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 08, 2011

Innovative online retailer ModCloth revamped their site navigation last week, allowing customers to more easily navigate through their robust selection of independent designer fashion and decor. Major improvements include new filters that allow customers to sort items by size and price range and the addition of drop-down menus to the homepage navigation.

ModCloth currently launches 25 to 50 new products daily from over 700 independent designers and suppliers and carries thousands of active products. The new navigation and filters will allow for increased visibility to all products and better supports ModCloth’s mission to create a vibrant social marketplace that empowers independent designers and their community.

Also included in the revamp are back-end enhancements to ModCloth’s in-house-developed Ruby on Rails application, updating the product catalog to be served from Solr, a Lucene-based search platform.

“These changes represent the first step towards a service-oriented architecture which will power ModCloth’s social commerce vision, and in the short term, the site is now capable of serving a much larger product catalog and audience,” says CEO Eric Koger.

Aw, this was a really great post. In theory I’d like to write like this also – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
